Harbor Church began 100 years ago, as a group of Nazarenes started a new church, Crawfordsville First Church of the Nazarene. However, after several difficult years we made the hard to decision to let go of our past and begin anew. Harbor Nazarene Church is the offspring of that faithful decision.

We became Harbor in 2018 after purchasing and renovating a new building on our community’s south side. Our goal was to become a new people with a renewed focus on being a safe place for our community to come and learn about themselves and the Lord. That safety and family is experienced most palpably in our various small groups meeting weekly.

Our Sunday services are designed with everyone in mind and are focused on creating an environment where all can worship. In a word, our worship service is to be “authentic,” in song lyrics, the keys of the music, in tithes, the sermon, communion and the benediction. We firmly believe that worship is active and so we seek to be a space where you can actively engage in the service rather than being a passive receiver. How do we do that? Simply, with our testimony wall, altars open for prayer, a space to place your burdens at the feet of Jesus, and ending with Communion every week. We invite you to join us on a Sunday to experience what that looks like.

There are three words/phrases that define us here at Harbor Church. Each represents our past and how that has shaped us into the people we’ve become. But, more importantly, they keep us focused on our calling here in Crawfordsville, keep us from becoming stagnant, and will always remind us that, as scary as the road might be at times, God is faithful and all will be well.

Children.

We’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness over the years, that when He calls He’ll be faithful to see it through. With that witness, we’re fearless as we trust in Him and will chase every calling that He places on our heart. Trusting the Lord is our focus as we continually seek to become new each and every week in our lives together - whatever that may look like.

Fellowship.

We’re a growing church. Yes, we are growing in number each week but that’s the result of our growth spiritually. There is a deep desire to grow closer together as a family and closer to the Lord. There’s always more on the horizon when God is first - more family members, more to know/understand/discover, and more to become - and we’re going to continue to grow in such ways.

Discipleship.

We’re not comfortable stuck inside the four walls of our building. God did not bring us out of the wilderness to focus on ourselves. We are committed to helping build God’s kingdom here in Montgomery county by speaking hope into the hearts of those in our community and by living as an example of God’s redemptive work in how we love and work with those around us. There’s work to be done and we’re committed to keep our feet and mouths moving.
